Pumpkin parade brought together the Slovak and Roma communities in Dražovce and brought a lot of fun.
On October 26, 2023, as part of the activities of the IN-HABIT project, a beautiful neighborhood event took place in the Dražovce district. On the Pumpkin Parade, the community could, in addition to carving pumpkins, make beautiful autumn decorations and enjoy an excellent vegetable delicacy. At the same time, the Community of Dražovce was able to view several exhibitions of paintings and other art artifacts that were installed in the public space.
The goal of this event was not only to have fun, but to create a pleasant atmosphere among neighbors. Emília Domanová clearly helped us with Katka Jahnová’s exhibition, Gio in Nitra delivered great coffee, the teachers of ZŠ, Ščašneho 22, Nitra helped kids with their creative activities together with the the employees of the City of Nitra, the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering of SPU in Nitra, the Faculty of European Studies and Regional Development of SPU in Nitra, Botanical garden of SPU Nitra, o.z. Zucchini – Spaces for creatures. Thank you for this creative, stimulating and friendly space you helped us to create. Our IN-HABIT team definitely enjoyed this day to the fullest.
During the neighborhood carving of pumpkins as part of the activities of the IN-HABIT project, the URBACT program expert Marcelline Bonneau came to visit us in Dražovce during her visit to the city of Nitra as a URBACT partner city of the GreenSpace network. The goal of this international project is the restoration of “forgotten” urban areas into valuable spaces for residents and together with residents. During the visit, we discussed experiences with the co-design of inclusive public spaces and the possibilities of connecting the IN-HABIT project and the GreenSpace project.
Finally, just a hearty congratulation to the winners of our raffle! Those who took the time to fill in the questionnaire were included in the raffle for cinema tickets, tickets to the New Theater in Nitra and a voucher for the purchase of a book. We also thank the large number of Roma children who helped us all the time and cooked with us during the entire event.
