IN-HABIT presente en el I Congreso de Ciencia Inclusiva del CSIC
October 4, 2023IN-HABIT project partners, residents, local actors and institutions from Córdoba, Riga and Lucca visited city of Nitra and our pilot area on the 13th-14th. September.

The program of the visit was adapted so that the visitors grasp the specifics of the development of the city of Nitra, the key interventions that also affect the IN-HABIT project, and to get to know our solutions or the local partners of the project. During the visit, our partners get to be more familiar with the development projects implemented by the City of Nitra at Martins Peak, in the City park, in the Dražovce neighborhood, as well as ongoing and planned interventions of our project in the pilot area.

In Martins Peak, we visited the buildings of former military barracks, which will soon become to be the home of the emerging Creative Center of the city of Nitra. During a walk in the area of the former barracks, we had the opportunity to hear something about the history of the area, or to get to know the concept of creative center programms. These were presented by the director of the emerging creative centre, Katarina Živanović. Subsequently, we carried out a walk through part of the project’s intervention corridor. During this walk, the largest park revitalization project in Slovakia, which is currently being implemented in Nitra, was introduced. We finished the walk with a longer stay in spaces of community and culture center Hidepark Nitra. In Hidepark, visitors had the opportunity to see an exhibition of photos from our participatory photography workshops, visited the community garden and made their own gift items in the upcoming community workshop. Prominent actors of the third sector in the city prepared presentations for the visitors concerning their actions, combined with a discussion. The pleasant atmosphere of the joint evening was ensured by the concert of the band “This is Marketa”, which made its debut at the Hidepark, a crucial project partner in Nitra.

During the second day of the visit, we enjoyed a picnic at the Dražovský church, one of the most important monuments that Nitra has. The visitors tasted refreshments prepared by the Roma community students of the Primary School in Dražovce, met and talked with several institutional and individual local actors. We thank everyone who participated in this visit and we will be very happy to welcome you again in Nitra!
