“Sunday CHIL” has been networking the community for two seasons

The event “Nedeľný ČIL” (in English “Sunday CHILL”) brings the Nitra community an opportunity for cultural and creative enjoyment. In the lap of nature, generations come together during the event to take a break from everyday stress. The popular event has been taking place with the support of the In-Habit project for two years. The unique atmosphere of Sunday afternoon is created thanks to the combination of nature, relaxing music, excellent food, local products, theater, board games and creative workshops.
Both in 2022 and 2023, three Sunday afternoon “chills” took place. This year, three local music producers or DJs presented themselves with their relaxing sets. Traditionally, theaters were also performing at every event. The creators of the program select theaters and incenations that will please both adults and children audience. Residents can also get to know the activities of civic platforms, such as Mareena, or Amnesty International.
Visitors of the event had the opportunity to buy handicrafts. The “small market” gives local producers the opportunity to present their craft products and sell their products to supporters from community. Citizens of Nitra can buy speciality coffee, vegan food and sweets, hand-made toys, clothes, plants, jewelry, and hand-made drugstores at the market. There were several swaps taking place on Chills, while most popular were swaps of clothes or rare plants. At the exchange of old records, you will find rare pieces for your collection.
In addition to sports activities or casually lying on a blanket in nature, visitors participate in creative workshops. In 2023, Sunday chills offered a workshop for making jewelry, Ukrainian crafts, furniture, toys, or creative gardens with earthworms.
The high attendance of the event is proof that cities often lack family activities in nature. This is the reason why the culture and environment hub has an important role for active relaxation, self-realization and strengthening of local communities.
