IN-HABIT attends Smart City Expo
December 1, 2022The Accessible Cities Award rewards the efforts made towards ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities.
The city of Córdoba has been awarded second place in the latest edition of the Accessible Cities Award. Vice-President for Values and Transparency, Věra Jourová and Commissioner for Equality, Helena Dalli, conducted the ceremony during the European Day of Persons with Disabilities Conference, which was held in Brussels on 25th November.

The Accessible Cities Award, established in 2010, recognises the efforts that cities make to ensure that people with disabilities can be a thriving part of the community. This entails, for example, making sure they have easy access to parks, public transport, and public buildings such as the city hall. This year’s first prize went to the Swedish city of Skelleftea, followed by Córdoba and Liubliajna. Special mentions went to Hamburg, in Germany, for its built environment; Grenoble, in France, for its transport network; and Mérida, in Spain, for its information and communication technologies.

The initiative Córdoba Incluye, directed by Bernardo Jordano, has been recognised for its efforts and the attention given to all the different types of disabilities. The Ayuntamiento de Córdoba, one of IN-HABIT’s partners, has contributed by working on making the city’s public transport more accessible and by adding braille descriptions to the paintings displayed in the Museo Julio Romero de Torres.
