Other tools and resources

On this page you will find additional tools and shareable resources we developed in the course of the IN-HABIT project which you may find useful as sources of information or inspiration for your own projects.

IN-HABIT Glossary

This document defines all of the technical terms commonly employed in our project, such as in-hubs, co-design, inclusive transition pathways or behavioural games. It may provide a useful reference guide as you navigate through our website and documentation.

Joint manifesto: Visionary and integrated solutions to improve well-being and health in cities

This joint manifesto was developed by IN-HABIT in concert with our three sister projects: GO GREEN ROUTES, VARCITIES and euPOLIS, all part of the same EC’s call for projects and funding scheme: "SC5-14-2019 - Visionary and integrated solutions to improve well-being and health in cities". It is addressed to policy makers, municipalities and EU policy makers. The consolidated document is structured around five main thematic pillars, namely: 1) Nature- based solutions, 2) Healthy and sustainable urban areas, 3) Culture & art, 4) Gender, inclusion & diversity, and 5) Digital innovation.

Gender, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Handbook for Cities

This handbook presents tools and strategies to implement Gender, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies in cities based on the experience of IN-HABIT, some of which may be downloaded separately:

GDEI Toolkit - a clear and usable decision-support framework that helps translate GDEI objectives into concrete institutional actions, policy choices, and measurable results.

Institutional Landscape Guide (Annexes 5, 1, and 2): a guide that will allow you to identify in what areas your city can improve inclusion, diversity and equity depending on the institutional landscape of the city.

• Behavioural Game Guide (Annexes 6 and 4):  a guide for using behavioural games to understand preferences and test targeted interventions with a gender and diversity approach.

Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI): Good Practices for Cities

During the 5-year lifetime of the project, IN-HABIT has explored how RRI can be meaningfully embedded into urban research and innovation, identified good practices that can be applied in other cities, and tested them in the four cities. This guide provides good Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) practices that can contribute to sustainable, equitable urban futures and strengthen the societal relevance and impact of R&I actions, as well as some examples of how these practices have been implemented.

Patios as a a Nature-Based Solution

Cultural heritage can offer key insights to enhance inclusive health and well-being. Specifically in Córdoba, the knowledge accumulated over time through its traditional patio houses and neighbor houses in the historic city center—along with their associated practices—can be regarded as a Nature-Based Solution (NBS), providing valuable knowledge to address contemporary environmental and social challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, social isolation, and urban well-being deterioration. We invite you to discover the following materials, prepared by our partner PAX-Patios de la Axerquía, which present patios as examples of eco-social units, integrating well-being, sustainability, and community cohesion from a contemporary perspective rooted in their historical and cultural context.

Health and Well-being in Patios Axerquía: Results of a study on the eco-social dimension of the urban heritage

The patio as an eco-social cell: Journal article (in Spanish) about the role patios may play in healthy, inclusive and healthy cities.

The soul of stones: Vídeo summary of a workshop held with children to reflect on the value and significance of heritage, as part of European Heritage Days.

INHABIThon Activity Guide

This guide explains how to facilitate participatory spaces (named here “INHABIThons”) that promote the CoCoCo model —co-designed, co-developed, and co-managed— as a way to sustain the impact of IN-HABIT beyond its completion.

The guide is complemented by other tools:

For facilitators:

• A compilation of activities for facilitators.

• A Communication Guide

• A detailed description of the solutions planned within the framework of the project

For participants:

• Guide for participants

• A template to specify their idea

• A template to specify their individual action plan

IN-HABIT App

The IN-HABIT APP is a smartphone-based tool that engages users in active missions designed to improve their daily habits with the aim of improving their health and wellbeing. Four versions of the app were developed, each specific to one of the pilot cities and with texts in the local language. The IN-HABIT app does not require a download but does require a first-time user to fill in a form.
