December 2, 2022⏳Timeline
December 7, 2022IN-HABIT’s local team in Cordoba organised a visit to the the neighbourhood with students from the International University Centre of the Pablo de Olavide University, Seville
A group of international students from Mexico, the United States and Germany, visited Las Palmeras to get to know the neighbourhood better and help cleaning up the picnic area, as part of a community volunteering action for the European research project IN-HABIT H2020, coordinated by María del Mar Delgado, professor at the University of Cordoba (UCO).
UCO researcher, Isotta Mac Fadden, guided the students of the class ‘Spanish society through volunteering’ through the courtyards of Las Palmeras in order to show them the reality of one of the most marginalised neighbourhoods in Spain.
During this visit, Isotta MacFadden talked about the idiosyncrasies of the neighbourhood and how the IN-HABIT project, with the help of the local residents, is guiding the re-naturalisation of the area through weekly workshops and cultural activities.
The day ended with a cleaning and waste collection session at the Las Palmeras picnic area, recently built by the IN-HABIT local team in response to the requests of the residents. As a final activity, the students had some time to discuss their impressions of the visit and record a video message for the residents of the neighbourhood.
