All the events and activities organised in the Italian city during the project’s second year
The second year of the IN-HABIT project in Nitra was carried out in the spirit of testing co-design procedures, further developing relationships with communities and testing the first solutions.
Project coordinators, together with the IN-HUB partnership, lecturers, new employees, affected communities and the public, continued to co-design solutions, some of which are already entering the implementation phase in the second half of 2022. It was a year of delivering the ITP plan, which created a comprehensive framework of activities and solutions that will be tested in Nitra. Today, we have a clearer vision of how we will bring new inclusive elements and change to public space and support healthy lifestyles and well-being of our communities along the corridor Hidepark – City Park – Drážovce, which is longer than 6 kilometres.
We managed to build functional partnerships with schools, public and state administration offices, non-profit organisations and other specific communities. These were not only included in the co-design process, but also directly lent their hands to bringing about the first results of the co-deployment actions in the intervention areas.
During the second year of the project, the construction of the cycle-path between the Industrial Park, Drážovce and the City Park was completed, which allowed us to start the co-design of solutions for this part of the corridor. The first areas of intervention were the Hidepark cultural and community centre, the KOZA community garden, the future picnic meadow on the banks of Nitra River, and Drážovce Elementary School. With our IN-HUB members, we started the co-creation of mobiliary elements and the landscaping of the community garden, and delivered site-specific landscape art. We launched a number of educational initiatives, from education focused on landscape maintenance, gardening, edible change, and crafts, to building language skills among migrants. We introduced economical and sustainable bike-sharing in Nitra, and organised cultural and community events. But what we are most happy about is the expansion and growing of our IN-HUB family along the way.
