People, Places, Possibilities: Celebrating the IN-HABIT Legacy in Córdoba
June 17, 2025People, Places, Possibilities: Celebrating the IN-HABIT Legacy in Córdoba
On June 10th and 11th, 2025, Córdoba, will host the Final Event of the IN-HABIT project, marking the culmination of five years of research, collaboration, and innovation aimed at enhancing inclusive health and well-being in small and medium-sized cities across Europe (Córdoba, Lucca, Nitra, Riga).
The event, titled “People, Places, Possibilities: The IN-HABIT Legacy”, spanish “Personas, espacios, posibilidades. El legado IN-HABIT”, will bring together project partners, local communities, policymakers, and international stakeholders for two days of engaging exchanges and final celebration.
📍 Day 1 – La Foggara & Luciana Centeno, Córdoba
The first day will take place at La Foggara with a warm welcome from the IN-HABIT coordination team and a captivating performance, “Duende: the Andalusian Secret of Connection and Creativity”, setting the tone for a day focused on connection and inspiration.
Later in the morning, participants will dive into the IN-HABIT Science “pills”, where representatives from the four cities, Córdoba, Riga, Lucca, and Nitra, will present key insights and results from their local experiences and will do a field visit to Las Palmeras, an IN-HABIT intervention site in Córdoba, offering participants a first-hand view of local transformation.
In the afternoon at Luciana Centeno, discussions will turn to the human side of city-making. A roundtable titled “People shaping the city – Personas que cambian la ciudad” will bring together key stakeholders who will be reflecting on the power of community involvement. This will be followed by a special scaling session with members of the World Heritage Cities network and a visit to Axerquía, the historic centre of Córdoba, in the context of the PAX initiative.
📍 Day 2 – Rectorado, Córdoba
Day two will begin at the Rectorado with a powerful storytelling session. Four real-life stories from the IN-HABIT cities will be shared, spotlighting the individuals behind the change and adding an emotional layer to the project’s scientific and policy achievements.
This will be followed by a high-level roundtable with policymakers, focusing on how IN-HABIT’s findings can influence future urban policies to promote well-being in small and medium-sized cities.
After the coffee break, attention will turn to replication with a roundtable featuring how cities and organisations can adopt and adapt IN-HABIT’s visionary, integrated solutions.
In both these sessions, the path and challenges, as well as the highlights of hard and soft -VIS “behind the scenes” will be told and discussed in detail. From the renovation of urban areas such as Agelskans Market, Patios de Las Palmeras, Dravozce Green corridor, to the building of new areas, such as green relational hum-animal areas in Lucca, Merendero Vecinal Cantarranas in Córdoba, outdoor stage in Riga, and others. As well as the experiences to implement a variety of adaptive solutions to different challenges and contexts (soft VIS and actions on the field) will be brought into the discussion.
The morning will conclude with a celebration of the IN-HABIT journey, summarising the project’s main messages and looking ahead to its lasting impact.
In the afternoon, participants will explore B4B’s Incubation Program, a forward-looking session focusing on supporting new initiatives that build on the IN-HABIT approach.
As IN-HABIT concludes its journey, the final event in Córdoba will represent not only a celebration but also a launchpad for continued innovation.
With its people-first approach and commitment to inclusive wellbeing, the IN-HABIT legacy is set to inspire future actions across Europe and beyond.
