Making conferences and congresses inclusive and accessible
CUCO (Club Unesco Córdoba) and IN-HABIT project boost inclusiveness and accessibility in the organisation of conferences and congresses. They host a Conference on Heritage and Sustainability at the Rectorate of the University of Cordoba on 29th March, that breaks with the traditional scheme in which functional diversities are passively included. In this case, a member of the National Organization of the Spanish Blind acts as conductor, members of the Down Syndrome Association of Córdoba perform as congress hostesses, experts in sign language make speeches accessible to all and catering is provided by a NGO that employs homeless and people at high risk of social inclusion, breaking with the stigmas related to the most vulnerable groups.
The main purpose of this action is to break the limits and show to the society, how these spaces, that traditionally exclude these groups or give them a secondary role, play now the main role in the dynamics of the event.
IN-HABIT aims to explore further with congress organization companies the options to include in their portfolio this inclusive and accessible business model, demonstrating with this action, that the future, passes through inclusion and diversity and that it’s possible to do that.
