May 7, 2025The IEEE International Workshop on Measurements and Applications in Veterinary and Animal Sciences (MeAVeAS) took place in Pisa last April 28 to 30 with 167 participants and 120 speakers.
IEEE MEAVeAS brings together professionals working on the development of instrumentation and measurement methods, not only for veterinary medicine but also for ecology and for food and animal science, and aims to explore the various aspects of interactions among the realms of veterinary medicine and animal and food science with the help of instrumentations and measurements, bio-engineering, material science, chemical and biological measurements.
Among the speakers, it is worth mentioning Miel Hostens, from the Cornell University, Ithaca of New York, USA, and José Alfonso Abecia, from the University of Zaragoza, Spain, as keynote speakers, who spoke respectively about How AI can transform the entire agricultural industry, or not and Sensors for Monitoring Physiological Aspects of Livestock Species.
Over the three-day workshop, many topics have been covered, such as Physiological Measurements of Animal Welfare, Machine learning in Veterinary Sciences, Animal reproduction, Food production, Technologies for parasite and vector control, Advance technologies for clinical diagnostic procedures in veterinary medicine and so on.
