Inspiring Projects Using the Design For Change Methodology
March 30, 2023Design for Change Spain has created a series of resources to support those within the IN-HABIT project who are working to employ their methodology.
The Design for Change methodology is being put to great use within IN-HABIT. In order for those carrying out projects to get the most out of this simple methodology, Design for Change Spain has run a webinar, produced a methodology guide, developed four toolkits, and created a series of videos.
The toolkits suggest techniques and short activities that help build on some of the steps of the Design for Change methodology, so that in addition to the basic information detailed in the guide, you can access advice on how to improve user interviews, enhance creativity, recognise different forms of prototyping, and deepen the art of storytelling.
On the other hand, the video series – IN-HABIT: Tips to carry out a DFC project – provides tips to facilitate the implementation of projects using the Design for Change methodology. The series is made up of ten short videos, each of which addresses a different stage in the methodology, as outlined below:
- Fill your “educational backpack” – Watch before you start the Feel phase of the methodology.
- Dance with uncertainty – For the point at which you have to identify possible focuses of action.
- Don’t solve the wrong problem – Watch when choosing your focus of action.
- Lay the groundwork – For when it’s time to create a challenge.
- Remember who is responsible for the project – Watch when you’ve reached the Imagine stage of the methodology.
- Hands also think – For when you need to choose the best solutions from those proposed.
- This is not about saying “you have to” – Watch when you’re specifying your proposal.
- Reap what has been sown – For when you’re moving on to the Do phase of the methodology.
- Reflection is key to growth – Watch when you’re starting the Evolve phase.
- Use the DFC Methodology for more than just doing a project – For when you reach the end of the process.
You can watch the video series here or explore the toolkits and other resources here.
