The 2nd year of IN-HABIT: Riga

November 7, 2022If you’re interested in finding solutions to the pressing problem of endangered biodiversity, register for the virtual transdisciplinary conference organised by the Research Initiative for the Conservation of Biodiversity.
Maintaining biodiversity is essential to the well-being and survival of humanity, but in the past 40 years, more and more species have been classified as at risk of extinction due to the destruction of their habitats as a consequence of human actions. In order to find a solution to this pressing problem, the Research Initiative for the Conservation of Biodiversity (FEdA) has planned a virtual transdisciplinary conference, taking place between the 9th and the 11th of November. The discussion will revolve around three major issues:
- Are the post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework sufficient and realistic to achieve a short-term reversal of the actual biodiversity loss necessary to safeguard human wellbeing?
- Why did the previous concepts and activities to preserve biodiversity fail, what can we learn from this and how can we effectively implement the intended goals?
- How can synergies be created at the European and international scale, at the level of scientists and stakeholders, in order to halt and reverse biodiversity loss and thus contribute to improving human well-being?
The conference invites European scientists, stakeholders from politics, society, economy and the media, but everybody who has an interest in the topic can participate by registering here.
